free & unlimited hosts
Tessera is free, and the free app is the whole product: SSH, mosh, tmux, files, port forwarding, keys, continuity, nearby setup — everything in this guide. The only limit is how many hosts it remembers: free Tessera saves one host.
One one-time purchase — unlimited saved hosts — removes that limit. No subscription, no Tessera account; the price is shown in the app and on the App Store.
What counts as a saved host
- Each entry in your hosts list counts, including a jump host saved as its own entry — a bastion route therefore needs the unlock.
- Quick connect (
user@hostfrom the search bar) is ephemeral and never counts. - Editing, connecting to, exporting, or deleting an already-saved host is never gated — and existing hosts are never hidden or removed, whatever your tier.
When saving a host would pass the limit — from the editor, a handoff, or a nearby setup import — Tessera says so and offers the unlock; batches are all-or-nothing, never partial.
Already bought Tessera?
If you bought Tessera when it was a paid app, unlimited hosts is included with your original purchase — no new purchase, nothing to do. Settings → unlimited hosts shows your access either way, and a restore purchases button covers reinstalls and new devices on the same Apple Account. The purchase applies across your iPhone and iPad on that account; it does not extend to Family Sharing.
